WINFIELD -- A Putnam County attorney and House of Delegates member has filed suit against a Beckley resident, alleging she was severely injured after an accident.

Patti A. Schoen claims she was driving her 1999 Toyota Solaro east on the Interstate 64 exit ramp to St. Albans when Lyndia Mae Sparacino's 2006 Ford Focus collided with her vehicle, according to a complaint filed Sept. 10 in Putnam Circuit Court.

Schoen claims Sparacino disregarded a traffic control signal and caused the Sept. 17, 2006, accident.

Schoen says she was seriously and severely injured in her head, neck, back, body and limbs and was rendered sick, sore, lame and otherwise disabled, the suit states.

The injuries caused an aggravation of a previously unspecified existing defect, according to the complaint.

Schoen claims she suffered great pain and anguish of her body and mind and has sustained loss of earnings.

Sparacino's liability insurance did not cover the accident, the suit states.

Schoen is seeking unspecified damages, plus interest and costs.

R. Matthew Vital and Matthew R. Oliver of Vital & Vital in Huntington will be representing her.

The case has been assigned to Circuit Judge O.C. "Hobby" Spaulding.

Schoen represents District 14, which is made up of parts of Putnam and Mason counties. A Republican, she currently is assistant minority whip.
